Ajit Mahadevan

India Director, Acumen

Ajit Mahadevan joined Acumen Fund earlier this year from Ernst & Young, where he served as advisory partner and leader (life sciences). At EY, he was a strategic advisor to the leadership of some of the leading Indian and global life sciences and healthcare players, with the focus being on business transformation and growth. Prior to that, Mahadevan was president of Piramal Healthcare. He holds an undergraduate degree in computer sciences from PSG College of Technology, India, and an MBA degree from Carnegie Mellon University (Tepper School of Business). Acumen is a social venture fund that invests patient capital in business models that deliver critical goods and services to the world’s poor, improving the lives of millions. Since 2001, Acumen has invested more than $88 million in 82 companies across south Asia, Latin America and Africa, all focused on delivering affordable healthcare, water, housing, agricultural inputs, education and energy to the poor.
