Shankar Venkateswaran joined the Tata Group in January 2014 as chief of the Tata Sustainability Group, with the responsibility of guiding Tata Sons and its group companies on sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives. Venkateswaran was earlier with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) India as director, sustainability. An IIT Madras-trained mechanical engineer and an MBA graduate from IIM Calcutta, Venkateswaran has over 31 years of experience in the corporate and development sectors, having held board positions at Mobile Creche, Srijan, ActionAid India, ActionAid Ghana, Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development, Tata Power Community Development Trust and the Aatapi Trust. The Tata Group’s contribution in the social space remains unparalleled in India. Through Tata Trusts and group companies, the group works on a wide range of social causes.
